Okinawa and the southern islands are genuinely subtropical, close to our core work; further north, a ski chalet is the same problem turned inside out — holding warmth and shedding snow instead of shading against heat — with the same honest materials and connection to landscape underneath.

Understanding the site
Every project begins with a close reading of the site — in Japan, that means its climate, orientation, terrain, access and the particular character of the place, understood before a single line is drawn.
