Ebony & Ivory

A store in two halves. Ebony & Ivory divides a single shop into a light side and a dark one — beauty on one, fashion on the other — split down the middle by a translucent polycarbonate wall that works as both display and screen.

The wall is the point. Light passes straight through it, so the two halves never fully separate: from either side you catch the glow of the other through the middle. It reads as one store with two faces, not two shops sharing an address.

The plan is built from concentric circles around a single centre, the two halves orbiting the middle of the store. A mezzanine wraps the space like a theatre — a spa on the upper level where you can look down over the floor and read the display wall face-on. Curved shell walls fold into shelving as they rise, so structure and display become the same thing.

Designed for Riyadh, Ebony & Ivory is meant to be a platform as much as a shop — a space for collaborations with Saudi Arabia's creative industries, and a stage for up-and-coming brands to be seen.
